Edgardo Somigliana


Edgardo Somigliana graduated in Medicine in Milan in 1994 and completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in 1999. In 2006, he completed a PhD in prenatal medicine. Since 2001, he is engaged as a clinical physician in the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department of the Fondazione Ca’ Granda - Ospedale Maggiore Policlinico, an academic hospital located in Milan, Italy. Since 2012, he is the head of the Infertility Unit of the hospital. In 2010, he spent a one year period as a senior Medical Officer in Obstetrics and Gynecology in a rural hospital in Uganda (Pope John’s Hospital, Oyam, Northern Uganda). His major scientific interests are infertility and endometriosis. He is author or co-author of 200 articles in international journals. Since 2012, he is Deputy Editor of Human Reproduction.
