Prof. Paolo Prandoni was born in 1947, and reached his graduation at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Padua in 1971. He became specialist in Haematology in 1974, specialist in Internal Medicine in 1976, and specialist in Cardiology in 1979. He defended his PhD thesis at Amsterdam University in 1992. He became Associate Professor of Internal Medicine in 2000, and Full Professor of Internal Medicine in 2006.
Prof. Prandoni has spent all his assistential and scientific activity at Padua University. Currently, he is Full Professor at the Department of Cardiovascular Sciences, and is the chief of the Vascular Medicine Unit of Padua University.
His scientific interest has been mainly involved in studies addressing epidemiology, pathogenesis, diagnosis, prevention, treatment and follow-up of venous thromboembolism. His scientific activity is documented by more than 400 articles "in extenso" in high-impact scientific medical journals.
