Dr. Abram Recht graduated from Johns Hopkins Medical School in Baltimore. He trained in radiation oncology at the Joint Center for Radiation Therapy, Boston. He is currently Professor of Radiation Oncology at Harvard Medical School and Deputy Chief of the Department of Radiation Oncology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. He has written, edited, or been co-author of more than 200 publications on all aspects of the local-regional therapy of breast cancer. He is currently a member of the Dana-Farber/Harvard Cancer Center Breast Cancer Stering Committee. He has served on breast-cancer related panels and committees of the American Joint Committeee on Cancer, the American College of Radiology, the American Society of Clinical Oncology (co-chairing its panel on the use of postmastectomy radiotherapy), the Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group, the European Organization for Research in Treatment of Cancer, and the Integration Panel of the Breast Cancer Research Program of the US Department of Defense.
