Morris Levin MD,

Dr. Levin is Professor of Neurology at UCSF where he directs the UCSF Headache Center. He is also adjunct professor of Neurology and Psychiatry at the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth (formerly Dartmouth Medical School), in Hanover, New Hampshire, USA, where he was formerly the co-director of the Dartmouth Headache Center. At Dartmouth he served as the director of the Dartmouth Neurology Residency Training Program, the medical school clerkship in neurology and the Dartmouth Headache Fellowship training program. Dr. Levin attended Stanford University where he received his BS degree in 1976, and he received his MD degree from the Chicago Medical School in 1980. He did his neurology residency training at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York. He did subspecialty training at the Montefiore Hospital Headache Unit in New York, and later at the Michigan Head-Pain and Neurological Institute in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Dr. Levin is a specialist in the treatment of headache and pain disorders. He is board-certified in Neurology (American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology). He is also Board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in the added qualification of Pain Medicine and is also certified in Pain Medicine by the American Board of Pain Medicine. He also holds board certification in Headache Medicine, from the United Council for Neurologic Subspecialties (UCNS) Dr. Levin has written a number of medical journal articles and textbook chapters in the areas of headache and pain. He is the author of Neurology Clinical Case Studies (Anadem 2003), Comprehensive Review of Headache Medicine (Oxford University Press 2008), and Emergency Neurology (Oxford University Press 2013). He is the coauthor of Head, Neck and Facial Pain (Anadem 2006), Educational Review Manual in Neurology (Castle Connolly 2006), Headache and Facial Pain (Oxford University Press 2009), and Refractory Migraine (Oxford University Press 2010, Dr. Levin has been very active in lecturing at national and international medical conferences on neurological and medical education subjects for many years. Dr Levin is an associate editor at the journal Headache, and serves as a reviewer for the journals Headache, Cephalalgia, Neurology, Brain, Johns Hopkins Advanced Studies in Medicine, Expert Review of Neurotherapeutics, the Journal of Neurosciences, Clinical Journal of Pain and the Journal of Headache and Pain. He is active in the American Headache Society, International Headache Society, Headache Cooperative of New England, Northern New England Neurological Society, American Neurological Association, and American Academy of Neurology. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Neurology, the American Neurological Association, and the American Headache Society. He is a member of the International Headache Society’s Classification Committee. He is the chair of the American Academy of Neurology Section on Headache and Facial Pain.
