1979  Recipient of The Hestrin Prize for Biochemical Research, awarded by the Israel Biochemical Society.

1985  Recipient of The Eleanor Roosevelt International Award for Cancer Research.

1995- Present   Incumbent of the Dame Susan Garth Chair for Cancer Research.

2004 Recipient of the Sarov Prize, awarded by the Israel Microbiology Society. 

1990, 1998 and 2004   Recipient of the Hebrew University Rector prize for exellence in teaching.

Biotechnology applications

1986 - 2000  Director of research and Chief scientist of BioTechnology Corp. Responsible for the        devison of research and development.  Development of three clinicaly approved products, recombinant Human Growth Hormone, Hyaluronic acid and a vaccine aginst  Hepatitis B virus.    

2000  License through The Hebrew University of the “Bio-pump” invention to Medgenics Corp and Cofounder of the company Medgenics. The company is now in the clinical phase of the Bio pump development for in vivo production of therapuitic proteins.

2000  License through the Hebrew University of the “Oncolytic virus” invention to Theravir Corp. and Cofounder of the company Theravir. A phase 1 clinical study has been completed successfully with patients suffereing of Glioblastoma.
